Solos: The Spheres

Sat 2nd July 7pm
Belconnen Arts Centre, 118 Emu Bank Belconnen

Ghostly quiet, hauntingly beautiful music from the spheres. Members of the Griffyn Ensemble evokes the heavens with music for harp, flute and soprano. The centrepiece of
the program is Henryk Górecki’s Good Night, written for his good friend Michael Vyner who passed away in 1989. “Good night…flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

The concert also features George Crumb’s Federico’s Little Songs for Children, music by Armenian-Scottish-American composer Alan Hovhaness, and songs from the stars by Griffyn director Michael Sollis.  Performed by Griffyn members Laura Tanata (harp), Kiri Sollis (flute), and Susan Ellis (soprano).

This is a Griffyn Solos performance, kindly supported by Belconnen Arts Centre.  There are four Griffyn Solo events at Belconnen Arts Centre during 2016, showcasing the individual talents of the six Griffyn musicians.  Griffyn are delighted to be ensemble-in-residence at Belconnen Arts Centre.
