Sometimes in Griffyn-land the world can seem like an incredibly large place, with new exciting music to be found in an endless selection of global corners. Other times though, it really can seem like a small world after all…
Such was the case of an ‘other time’ when we came across US composer John Kennedy. When researching music for our Lost Mapmaker concert, Michael found an incredibly beautiful work by Kennedy called Eagle Poem, which was a perfect piece for the concert, and the first time Kennedy had been heard by Griffyn.
Straight away Michael sent an email to the American composer about the work and his music in general. As it turned out, John Kennedy had been meaning to get in touch with Griffyn for some time, as his sister resides in Canberra, and being a Griffyn member herself, had been telling her brother John to get in touch with us.
Undoubtedly the heavens have decreed that we perform John’s music, and if you check out his website here, I am sure you will look forward to more of his music in the future.
